Today, April 23rd is Impossible Astronaut Day for us Whovians. Whovians are people who love Doctor Who, by the way :) So today, Whovians everywhere would have drawn tally marks all over themselves.
That sounds a bit strange, why would they do that you ask?
It's because of the episode of Doctor Who called The Impossible Astronaut. To put it basically, there is a species of alien called The Silence. When you look at it, you can see it, but as soon as you look away you have no memory of them whatsoever. That's where the tally marks come it. Every time a Silence was spotted, the characters would draw a tally mark on themselves before they looked away and forgot.
It might sound silly, but if you watch it, you will probably understand :)
Here's my nails I did for this day:
I have a beige/nude colour to represent the skin and then black tally marks, pretty simple :)
Then on my thumb, I have a black background with what was SUPPOSED to be a Silence...
Here's what a Silence actually looks like:
Yeah...so mine don't really look like a Silence at all...
Colours Used:
Black - Kiss Nail Striper Black
Beige/Nude - OPI: Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?
Black - OPI: Black Onxy
Brown - OPI: Wooden Shoe Like To Know?
Grey - Sinful Colors: Cool Grey
